Robert Baird
Growing up on Seattle’s Capitol Hill, Robert Baird formed his first rock band at age 12 with himself as the lead singer.
Robert, known also as Rob and Treb (a derivation of Robert spelled backwards) started teaching himself both piano and guitar soon thereafter.
During high school, Robert’s love for Pop music expanded into other genres as he studied both Jazz and Classical piano at nearby Cornish School. The product of a conservative white-collar upbringing, Robert never considered performing in night clubs as a serious career path. But while attending the University of Washington by day, Robert worked nights as a bartender at a Seattle restaurant that featured live entertainment.
One night Robert was asked by a frantic manager if he could come out from behind the bar and perform when the musician who was scheduled didn’t show up. One thing led to another.
Through the mid-80’s and 90’s Robert performed in various NW destination resorts including Semi-Ah-Moo, Rosario, and Roche Harbor Resorts. During that same time he also spent a couple years contracted by Princess Cruises to perform in Mexico, Alaska, Europe and the Caribbean where he acquired his fondness for island music. Robert returned home to Seattle in 1998 with his wife Kelly so they could to be closer to their families when their daughter Alex was born. You can catch Robert, Rob and Treb’s show(s) in both Chopstix locations, where he has quickly become a valued Chopstix Dueler!
