Greg Smith

Greg SmithBorn and raised in Portland, Oregon, Gregory PJ Smith got a late start in music picking up the keyboard at 14. The following year he started playing guitar and throughout high school and college made it a point to learn a new instrument every year. In college he began writing and recording his own original music. There he met singer/songwriter Bart Hafeman and began playing keyboards occasionally in Bart's band, Bartholomew. Bart later recorded one of Greg's songs as a bonus track on his CD.

After college Greg spent a decade playing in various original bands up and down the west coast including his own project, GregsMyth which was described by Rainforest Records as, "Jackson Browne meets Guns'n'Roses". Along the way he recorded and co-produced several albums playing everything from piano, bass, and guitar to harmonica, mandolin, and accordion.

Greg first saw dueling pianos at NY, NY in Las Vegas and in 2001 when a dueling piano bar opened in Portland, he jumped at the chance to learn the show. Under the wing of veteran duelers Van Walraven and Cindy Chen, Greg spent his first year and a half working with some of the best in the business. From there he played dueling and solo piano at various locations across the country and beyond on Disney and Carnival cruise lines. He also played keyboards and guitar for a traveling Legends show backing impersonators from Elvis and Hank Williams to Elton John and Shania Twain. After playing dueling pianos for three years in Wilmington, North Carolina, Greg has returned to the Northwest to join the Chopstix team.
